This project was not built to find the number.
It was built to ask whether it exists.
The Collatz conjecture is simple: take any number. If it's even, divide it by 2. If it's odd, multiply it by 3 and add 1. Repeat.
Every number ever tested eventually returns to 1. And yet, no one has proved that this must happen for all numbers.
We are not hunting a counterexample. We are measuring the absence of one.
In a way, it feels like life. We don't live to discover the final number. We live through the iterations.
I want to thank my friend Federico — known, affectionately, as "palla e merd".
When he bought an apartment in London, he could have bought something far bigger and easier back home in the south. More space. More sun. More efficiency.
But sometimes the goal is not efficiency.
Sometimes it is to do something that challenges you. Something that stretches you. Something that makes you feel alive.
This project is like that.
And maybe, one day, Federico will finish renovating his apartment.
Dreaming costs nothing.
